Millions of people have glaucoma - and half of them do not know it. Don't let glaucoma sneak up on you or someone you love. Glaucoma has no early symptoms. Once loss of vision is noticed by a patient, the damage is usually very severe and irreversible. In order to preserve vision, glaucoma must be diagnosed early. All is takes is a simple test performed by your eye doctor during your routine eye exam. Glaucoma is a lifelong disease, but can be controlled with the right glaucoma treatment. Check out this glaucoma video.... One of the first questions most people ask when considering LASIK is…”what is the cost”. The second question is…” is the price going to go down if I wait a few more years”? If you want the best result for your eyes…then don’t base your decision on cost…and don’t wait because there is no history to suggest that the price will go down over time. At the Eye Center of Texas, we recognize that cost is an important factor, but when it’s all said and done…shouldn’t the LASIK surgeon and his/her success rate be the most important thing one should consider when thinking about LASIK? Dr. Edward Wade of the Eye Center of Texas has been in private practice since 1989. He specializes in refractive surgery and has consistently been in the forefront of new technologies and only offers the Custom IntraLase “iLASIK” (blade free) procedure to his patients. He has performed over 40,000 LASK procedures and VISX named him one of the ‘Top 100 LASIK surgeons in the United States’. He has earned an excellent reputation among his peers; in fact he is called the “doctor’s doctor”, meaning more doctors refer their patients to him than any other LASIK surgeon in Houston. If you are comparing several providers, the cost of LASIK surgery is only one aspect to consider. Be sure to ask questions like: I once heard someone say “These are your eyes…not a piece of furniture! Don’t let price get in your way when considering LASIK!” At the Eye Center of Texas, our first priority is always your sight and we don’t sacrifice technology for the sake of keeping the cost low. Dr. Edward Wade and Dr. Mark Mayo of the Eye Center of Texas are considered to be two of the top LASIK surgeons in Houston. In fact over 200 local eye doctors refer their LASIK patients, family and friends to them and combined they have done over 40,000 LASIK procedures. At the Eye Center of Texas, we only offer our patients iLASIK – which is the latest in LASIK technology. iLASIK specifically refers to using the IntraLase laser to create the corneal flap. IntraLase makes the safest, thinnest and most accurate flaps possible. Once the flap is created, we do the Advanced CustomVue Wavefront-Guided VISX laser technology. When using the CustomVue to reshape the patient’s cornea - each patient receives custom correction and the outcome is much better than standard LASIK. If you’ve been told you’re not a candidate for LASIK, there may be other procedures for you to consider. At the Eye Center of Texas, we offer a full scope of surgical vision correction procedures. Dr. Wade and Dr. Mayo offer PRK and HD Visian ICL for non-LASIK candidates. ReSTOR ICL’s are best for people over the age of 50 who need both distant and near vision correction. Dr. Wade has performed more ReSTOR lens surgery than any eye surgeon in Houston. It is important to choose a surgeon who is well trained and experienced in all of the available procedures. LASIK is amazing! No more glasses or contact lenses to deal with and just think what it would be like to wake up in the morning and see your alarm clock without first putting on your glasses! LASIK is truly life changing - call us right now and schedule a free iLASIK evaluation. 03/09/10
Cataract Surgery is an amazing and modern procedure – that only takes a few minutes. Dr. Edward Wade and Dr. Mark Mayo perform cataract surgery through a small incision with no sutures, injections or even an eye patch. Cataract surgery is not painful – we keep our patients comfortable by using IV sedation and numbing eye drops… and our cataract patients are able to return home the same day of surgery. In most cases, our patients are able to see through their eye immediately. At the Eye Center of Texas, we take care of all eye problems including macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and retinopathy, lid problems, dry eyes and we specialize in laser vision correction and cataract surgery. Eye Center of Texas is proud to announce that our very own Dr. Randall Reichle was just named "Optometrist of the Year" by the Texas Optometric Association. Congratulations Dr. Reichle! We are very proud of you and your outstanding service and long term dedication to the citizens of Texas and the profession of optometry! 03/03/10
Last Friday, Good Morning America ran a story about LASIK eye correction. At the Eye Center of Texas, we are very proud of our LASIK surgeons, Dr. Edward Wade and Dr. Mark Mayo...and what they have given thousands of patients - great vision! Bad things can happen after surgery. LASIK is no exception. But, LASIK has provided 15 million happy patients and a handful of unhappy ones. There was a time when the US military and NASA did not allow fighter pilots/astronauts to have LASIK - however that is no longer the case. Here are a couple of facts: The Navy spends more than $2M training a single pilot. It takes two and a half years to complete flight training. Carrier pilots rely heavily on high quality vision to land aboard the boat at night. Many of them complain when their vision degrades from 20/12 to 20/16. For most of them 20/20 simply isn’t good enough. Yet, the refractive surgery program in the Navy is thriving and well funded, because it works, it’s safe, and profoundly enhances the operational readiness of our military personnel in all warfare communities. If there was a significant problem with the procedure or the outcomes, the pilots themselves would refuse to have it. Even the ultra-conservative NASA medical department has embraced LASIK technology for the astronaut corps, based largely on 10 years of Navy studies. Dr. Waxler who was featured in the segment, retired from the FDA 10 years ago – the technology has vastly changed in 10 years and the problems encountered then, by and large, no longer exist. At the Eye Center of Texas, we offer a FREE LASIK evaluation. These test can take up to 2 hours and will tell us if you are a good candidate for LASIK surgery. LASIK is amazing...but do yourself a favor, don't base your decision on price. Base it on the surgeon...their experience...and the technology they use. You want to know that you are getting the most trusted LASIK procedure available. That’s why at the Eye Center of Texas we only offer our patients the highly advanced IntraLase Method (iLASIK). And here’s another reason to be confident in the iLASIK procedure…the National Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA) only allow this technology to be used on U.S. astronauts. The NASA decision was made following review of extensive military clinical data using Advanced CustomVue LASIK with the IntraLase Method, which showed the combination of technologies provides superior safety and vision. “Even your most-extreme lifestyle is nothing compared to being ejected from an F16 or the G-Forces of atmospheric blastoff,” said Dr. Edward Wade. “With today’s advanced LASIK technologies -- which feature the use of two lasers, instead of one as with earlier forms of the procedure -- patients can be confident that they will have improved vision, but also that the procedure has proven to be extremely safe as well.” Approved for use on consumers almost a decade ago, more than 15 million LASIK procedures have been performed to-date, making it the most-common elective surgical procedure in the U.S. But it wasn’t until LASIK developed into an all-laser procedure that NASA approved it for use on pilots, mission and payload specialists who face extreme, physically demanding conditions in space. TODAY’S ADVANCED LASIK USES ALL-LASER TECHNOLOGY In the second step of advanced LASIK, wavefront-guided technology maps, and then custom- patients today. corrects vision based upon the unique characteristics of an individual’s eye. This sophisticated measurement provides 25 times more precision than measurements using standard methods for glasses and contact lenses, taking patients to 20/20 vision and beyond. Advanced CustomVue LASIK with the IntraLase Method Dr. Edward Wade of the Eye Center of Texas has performed over 40,000 LASIK procedures and has been named one of the Top LASIK surgeons in the U.S. Call the Eye Center of Texas at 713-395-1515 to schedule your FREE iLASIK evaluation. |
