One of the first questions most people ask when considering LASIK is…”what is the cost”. The second question is…” is the price going to go down if I wait a few more years”? If you want the best result for your eyes…then don’t base your decision on cost…and don’t wait because there is no history to suggest that the price will go down over time.

At the Eye Center of Texas, we recognize that cost is an important factor, but when it’s all said and done…shouldn’t the LASIK surgeon and his/her success rate be the most important thing one should consider when thinking about LASIK?

Dr. Edward Wade of the Eye Center of Texas has been in private practice since 1989. He specializes in refractive surgery and has consistently been in the forefront of new technologies and only offers the Custom IntraLase “iLASIK” (blade free) procedure to his patients. He has performed over 40,000 LASK procedures and VISX named him one of the ‘Top 100 LASIK surgeons in the United States’. He has earned an excellent reputation among his peers; in fact he is called the “doctor’s doctor”, meaning more doctors refer their patients to him than any other LASIK surgeon in Houston.

If you are comparing several providers, the cost of LASIK surgery is only one aspect to consider. Be sure to ask questions like:
• How many LASIK procedures has your surgeon preformed?
• How long have you been in business?
• What percentage of people that come to you are considered candidates for LASIK?
• How long is your pre-op evaluation?
• What is your enhancement rate (follow up corrective surgery)?
• What kind of equipment do you use and do you move it around? (Sometimes the mobile LASIK equipment is less reliable than the larger, stationary equipment).
• What all is included in the cost of LASIK surgery at your practice?

I once heard someone say “These are your eyes…not a piece of furniture! Don’t let price get in your way when considering LASIK!” At the Eye Center of Texas, our first priority is always your sight and we don’t sacrifice technology for the sake of keeping the cost low.

Dear Dr. Wade:

"I cannot thank you enough for my "new vision". Since my LASIK surgery on 2/5/2010 I see the world clearly through my own eyes without glasses or contacts! AMAZING! You and your staff are absolutely the best professionals I have ever met in the medical field. Thank you so much! Dr.Robin Szabo cannot stop praising your work when I go in for my check ups. I was extremely nervous before the procedure, but you and your staff put me at ease. Stephen was a great help in answering questions and assisting with the paperwork. Thank you once again"!

DH Black

P.S. "Absolutely the best experience I have ever had with medical practices".

"#1 facility and staff".

"Thank you so much Dr. Wade!!!"

Dr. Edward Wade and Dr. Mark Mayo of the Eye Center of Texas are considered to be two of the top LASIK surgeons in Houston. In fact over 200 local eye doctors refer their LASIK patients, family and friends to them and combined they have done over 40,000 LASIK procedures. At the Eye Center of Texas, we only offer our patients iLASIK – which is the latest in LASIK technology. iLASIK specifically refers to using the IntraLase laser to create the corneal flap. IntraLase makes the safest, thinnest and most accurate flaps possible. Once the flap is created, we do the Advanced CustomVue Wavefront-Guided VISX laser technology. When using the CustomVue to reshape the patient’s cornea - each patient receives custom correction and the outcome is much better than standard LASIK.

If you’ve been told you’re not a candidate for LASIK, there may be other procedures for you to consider. At the Eye Center of Texas, we offer a full scope of surgical vision correction procedures.

Dr. Wade and Dr. Mayo offer PRK and HD Visian ICL for non-LASIK candidates. ReSTOR ICL’s are best for people over the age of 50 who need both distant and near vision correction. Dr. Wade has performed more ReSTOR lens surgery than any eye surgeon in Houston. It is important to choose a surgeon who is well trained and experienced in all of the available procedures.

LASIK is amazing! No more glasses or contact lenses to deal with and just think what it would be like to wake up in the morning and see your alarm clock without first putting on your glasses! LASIK is truly life changing - call us right now and schedule a free iLASIK evaluation.

Cataract Surgery is an amazing and modern procedure – that only takes a few minutes. Dr. Edward Wade and Dr. Mark Mayo perform cataract surgery through a small incision with no sutures, injections or even an eye patch. Cataract surgery is not painful – we keep our patients comfortable by using IV sedation and numbing eye drops… and our cataract patients are able to return home the same day of surgery. In most cases, our patients are able to see through their eye immediately.

Most of our cataract patients are referred to us by their optometrist or other patients – which just goes to show that our practice is built on reputation and trust.
So what is the greatest part about cataract surgery? I think one of the greatest advances available to our cataract doctors is the ability to offer patients premium intraocular lenses or IOLs. Multifocal implants are designed to make patients less dependent on glasses for far and near and everything in between. The ReSTOR IOL, is a favorite of Dr. Wade and Dr. Mayo. As a matter of fact, Dr. Wade is one of the top ReSTOR surgeons in the country. Our patients have also enjoyed our use of the toric implant to reduce or eliminate the need for astigmatism. If a laser vision correction touch up is needed for the best result, we provide iLASIK bladeless custom LASIK at no additional charge.

At the Eye Center of Texas, we take care of all eye problems including macular degeneration, diabetic eye disease and retinopathy, lid problems, dry eyes and we specialize in laser vision correction and cataract surgery.
