Multifocal (Bifocal) IOLs

ReSTOR / ReZoom / Crystalens Intraocular lenses

Millions of baby boomers have many things in common . . . memories of the 60’s, great music, hippies and a safer time . . . but they’re also the generation now facing the need for bifocals, progressive lenses and reading glasses . . . and not wanting to accept the fact of this common aging condition . . . presbyopia.

Presbyopia, or the natural loss of focusing power of the eye’s lenses, usually starts in the early to middle 40’s and gets progressively worse until the middle to late 50’s. It’s inevitable, but no less uncomfortable.

Multifocal (Bifocal) intraocular lenses correct both your far-away vision (even if you’ve worn glasses and/or contact lenses most of your life) and your reading vision. It’s literally like turning back the clock. It’s estimated that 90 million Americans have presbyopia or will have it by 2014.

This surgery is not new or experimental. As a matter of fact, the surgical procedure is the same surgery used with cataract patients. By removing the eye’s natural lens using a completely painless procedure, and replacing it with multifocal intraocular lens, your Eye Center of Texas surgeon can provide clear vision at far away distances, reading and at the computer. The Eye Center of Texas has been using these “bifocal” intraocular lenses since 2004 with great success and an amazing level of patient satisfaction. Over 95% of our multifocal IOL patients do not wear glasses at all . . . for driving, for reading or for the computer.

Call the Eye Center of Texas at 713-395-1515 to ask about our free multifocal IOL (also known as ReSTOR, ReZoom and Crystalens) evaluations. If you have cataracts, even very early cataracts, you may still be a great candidate for the multifocal IOLs. Give us a call to see.
